Week 6 BOC: Duck Dynasty Trend

I believe that Duck Dynasty has its perks. For starters it shows its viewers how they started from the bottom and grew to the top, and how they now have a super successful TV show and business.
Duck Dynasty"Duck Dynasty, a family who owns a multimillion-dollar duck calls business in the swampy boondocks of Louisiana.” They are a group of related/ close family red necks who have a large business selling duck calls and it turns out this is one of the best reality shows of the time.
“It scored 9.6 million viewers for its April 24 finale.” They are the top in there category.
“The sons’ wives deciding to give Phil and Kay a wedding present for their 49th anniversary that they couldn't afford back then.” Though they a comical red necks, they do have high family values.
“Phil Robertson, the Duck Commander Creator and papa of the Robertson clan, recently told Parade that he (and his epic beard) plans to leave the show in the near future.”
This being stated more people will probably try to get into the business world to get on their level. Though in reality that won’t be the case, according to the show, Duck Dynasty may be at its end, for one of the cast members plans on leaving the show quite soon. So what shall the future of reality TV be, well first there was Honey-Boo-Boo, they've also had crocodile hunters, now duck calls, and they have also had Buck Wild. It seems as though the redneck trend won’t end. So commercials will probably now involve what woman and men both want in one, family oriented yet with a guy’s dream job. TV and Advertising will most likely never be the same.

Week 5 EOC: Fixing JC Penny's

“They rose almost 11 percent late Monday after Penney confirmed it had ousted Ron Johnson as chief executive, but the stock slid when the company said Ullman was back.”
“Ron Johnson was running Apple’s stores, which had the highest profit per square foot of any retail chain in America. Sure he would bring the Midas touch to JC Penney they gave him a $50M sign-on bonus and complete latitude to do as he wished. “
Why’ll Ron Johnson was CEO at JCP for a whole 17-months, he made the store tank. He may have been very successful at Apple, but it seems clothing is not his expertise. He was so successful that he had the highest profit per square foot. So, JCP decided to sign him on and because of this the store may not recover from this hit. Over 111 years of JCP and the store may be over. So when JCP got rid of Ron, profits went up, until they brought Ullman back.
“He intends to return to JCP’s legacy, buy more newspaper coupons, and keep doing more of the same.”
I think that a good way for JCP to get on top is to bring in some new fresh designers that everyone love, but sell the products at the lowest end cost they can go. Like bring in knock off items that look lovely. Possibly get some new and fresh clothes, and especially new, fresh, and outstanding advertisements that are kid friendly, so that when kids watch shows on nick and Disney they will see their favorite stars where amazing clothes sold at JCP. Also they should take shows that every adult watches and do the same, like have Miley Cyrus on Two and a Half Men go shop at JCP. Or even have Project Runway do a episode where they use JCP items and reinvent them and then the top two products designed be sold at their store. It would bring a lot of publicity and sky rocket sales.

EOC Week 4:Women in Advertising

Man: “Gosh, Honey, you seem to thrive on cooking, cleaning and dusting. And I’m all tuckered out by closing time. What’s the answer?”
Woman: “Vitamins, Darling! I always get my vitamins.”
Advertising with women I personally believe has become more vulgar. Before, it seemed to appear to be completely and horribly sexist. Like the ad above; “So the harder a wife works, the cuter she looks.” In that statement it shows how woman were house wife’s and suppose to do all the work around the house so that when their husbands came home they could cater to them. Or the second ad stating; “keep her where she belongs….” Well first, where exactly does she belong?  It seems as though they are implying, if you want your wife to stick around and be a house wife, you need to buy her lavishing things.
In the new age ad it shows us how men drinking sky Vodka are classy. Yet, why is the woman in this photo wearing a dental floss bikini? It makes me think that they are implying it’s classy for men to drink but trashy for woman to. Like if you are a fancy business man and you see a triple D woman lying there in her bikini, all you have to do is offer her a drink and she’ll be all over you. Otherwise, why would this man be standing over her…

With this being stated, ads really haven’t seemed to change much, other than making a woman out to be a total whore. These ads truly show the different roles the males and females play in ads. For a man to sell a product well he dresses classy. For a woman to sell a product well, they must degrade themselves.

Week 4 BOC: Omnicom and Publicis

Two big Advertising agencies have come together. The amount they make combined before they came together was a large $23 billion dollars, now we estimate by the end of 2014 that amount, now that they are the same company will have grown to $35 billion dollars. They are the world’s largest advertising agencies.
“Publicis and Omnicom, two of the largest global advertising agency holding companies, today confirmed that they will merge.”
“After 30 months, Levy will become non-executive chairman and Wren will become CEO.”

Though, now there is or may be a possible issue with the agencies coming together. This is because one own Pepsi and another owns Coca Cola. Though, this would be fine if the two companies weren’t rivals. I guess we honestly just have to wait to see how everything all plays out. If they work things properly, both Coke and Pepsi product owners will be equally wealthy.
“Client conflicts also could be an issue, as rivals such as Coca-Cola Co., PepsiCo, McDonald’s, Yum Brands’ Taco Bell, Johnson & Johnson and Procter & Gamble now find themselves under the same umbrella.”

The main building, like the “command center” will be in the Netherlands like listed below. They will also still have their main offices in New York and Paris too. Though, because they are two different companies that are held in different countries, coming together may be a challenge. Without competition, profit may or may not increase like they had hoped. Separately they are incredibly wealthy, strong companies; we just do not know how well they will hold up together with no completion and their competitors now being under the same roof.
The new holding company will be based in the Netherlands, while the operating offices will remain in Paris and New York
